I began my career as a photojournalist in Kashmir, although photography entered my life relatively late. The passion for capturing moments had always resided within me, but I didn't hold a camera until my late twenties. It was my childhood love for creating pencil sketch portraits that initially ignited my interest in photography. Constantly observing my surroundings and composing imaginary frames through sketching led me to consider photography as a medium of expression.
Without any familial connection to this craft and lacking access to a camera, I hesitated to pursue my thoughts. After graduating in Tourism studies, I took on various odd jobs while nurturing my passion for photography. Eventually, I made the decision to leave my job and embark on a photography career. In 2007, I joined a local newspaper, marking the beginning of my journey.
Over a decade has passed since then, during which I have had the privilege of working with prominent names in news publications. My work has been featured in esteemed publications such as Fortune magazine, Wall Street Journal, NYT lensblog, Wirtschaftswoche, and Sightlife (NGO). I have collaborated with The Telegraph, Reuters, Fortune India, and India Today. In 2022, I made the bold choice to resign from my position as Deputy Chief Photographer at India Today Magazine, embracing the path of an independent photographer
